Glitter Overlay Vinyl JaMaK Vinyl
Having difficulty finding a glitter vinyl in the perfect shade? Our glitter overlay vinyl is the answer! This vinyl is a transparent vinyl material that you can layer over top of any other vinyl product and transform it into a glitter vinyl! The fifth and sixth images show how Oracal 631 and 651 can become glitterized using our glitter overlay vinyl!
The overlay is a 2 year outdoor vinyl that has a permanent adhesive on it (like a 651 permanent adhesive). It is 3 mil thick (about the same as an Oracal 651) and has a glossy finish. Although this vinyl can be adhered on to any other vinyl product, please note that adhering it on top of a removable vinyl will NOT increase the durability of the removable vinyl. This is because you are still adhering the removable vinyl to your surface - you just have another material on top of your removable vinyl. Note that with this product, your vinyl will look textured but feel smooth.
How do I cut, weed, and transfer with the overlay?
As the second image shows, you adhere the vinyl on top of your existing vinyl product (see next question for how this is done), send it through your vinyl cutter (adjusting for the increased thickness of the material - you are essentially cutting two materials at once!), weed your design, and apply it to your destination surface. Because the overlay is already attached to your vinyl before your cut it, you only need to cut, weed, and transfer once!
How do I adhere the overlay on top of vinyl?
As the third image shows, we recommend the use of the "hinge method". Basically you place the glitter overlay on top of the vinyl you want to glitterize, and apply it one half at a time. We recommend starting by placing the overlay on top of the vinyl you want to glitterize, and place a piece of masking tape across the width of both products. Then, peel the overlay away from one side of the backing plastic, towards the masking tape. Cut the plastic backing and discard it. Then, carefully pull and scrape the overlay away from the masking tape, using small scraping motions, towards the edge of the vinyl until you reach the edge. Once you have done this, half of the overlay is adhered to your vinyl! Next, move the masking tape on top of the side of the vinyl you were just working with. Then, remove the rest of the overlay from the plastic backing and discard the backing. You can then pull and scrap the overlay away from the masking tape towards the other edge of the vinyl using a gentle and steady pressure and pacing. Once this has been done, the overlay is adhered to your entire surface and you can cut your new glitterized vinyl!
The plastic tumbler in the images is for illustration purposes only - it does not come with the listing. It is provided to give you an idea of what the vinyl would look like if cut and placed on a blank product. While we do not advocate for putting any vinyl in the dishwasher, if you chose to do so, you are doing so at your own risk.
By purchasing this listing you will get one (1) sheet of our glitter overlay that is either 12"x6", 12"x12" or 12"x24", depending on what you have selected.
